CHARLES MACINTOSH.
b. 1766   d. 1843

Almost 200 years ago, Charles Macintosh spread rubber onto cloth forming the first waterproof fabric. Macintosh has been crafting raincoats ever since. To this day Macintosh makes every coat by hand using the same procedures established in the 19th century and each seam is still sealed water tight with a glue applied by the craftmans hand.

Every raincoat designed since has been influenced somehow by this original waterproof gem.
